Blogs also help other people to find their interests or make them curious enough to start something new. Although it can be very fascinating to connect with people, it also raises some questions for the new aspiring bloggers. It is the most troublesome to discover new content each time you want to write something new. But that’s the main issue, isn’t it? You can’t find any content that is new or completely different from others. So, why not just make your own? Simple right? Let me explain. All you have to do, is instead of searching new things that people are not doing, share the th ings that you are working on. It can be your lifestyle, your cooking tricks, or interesting stories that you might find in your neighbourhood. And voila, you have totally different content from others.Do I have to update the blog daily? Now, one more question exists. How often do I update my blog? You can say this is another self-doubt for bloggers. So here’s what you should do. Update the blog when you feel like sharing some memories or stories. A blog is not your homework or a 9 to 5 job that you have to update daily. This should be your choice when you are ready to share your feelings with others. But don’t leave your blog lonely for a long time. There should be a time period when you update your blog. The major question and big self-doubt for a blogger: what should be the ideal length of the article or the a blog? This has a little confusing answer. Some of the bloggers prefer to have long explanatory articles so that the readers can understand better. While some prefer to keep their content short and sweet. It is actually efficient in both cases. You just have to remember, it is the content of the article that matters, not the length. You can either explain in a long essay like way or you can have a simple short story. But you must have content that helps the readers understand easily and efficiently.How do I get loyal readers? So, now that you have found the content, the time when you want to update your blog and the length which you want to write with, you need readers. Not only that, you need loyal readers. You can focus on having a good reputation and can gain a steady income with it, too.How should I start the blog? If you ask me, I think that this is the most important self-doubt for a blogger. This question can decide your readers and pretty much everything about your blog. But don’t panic. It has a simple answer. Your first blog post should be about you and your blog. Don’t forget, people don’t know you, yet. So, in order to be familiar with them, write about you. Let them know more about you and your blog. Tell them what content to expect, in short, familiarize yourself with them. And don’t forget to tell them how to stay in touch with the blog.How should I decide the theme of the blog? Now, the theme of the blogs can be a deciding factor, but it also depends on the blogger. You should keep inind that you theme connects with your content and is helpful for the readers. If this is followed, then it is totally up to you what theme you would like to have.Are guest posts beneficial? It is a tricky issue, I think. Guest posts can be beneficial to your blog, but if too many, they can still be hazardous. But you have to keep one thing in mind, if your blog is new, there might not be bloggers who will want to write on your blog if you are new. It’s simple, guest blogging is to spread your influence. If you already don’t have any readers, the other bloggers might not want to be part of it just now. 12 of the Most Commonly Asked Dinner Etiquette Questions Today’s post is written by Diane Gottsman,  a national etiquette expert, and owner of The Protocol School of Texas.   I am grateful to Anna Runyan for allowing me to talk about Thanksgiving Unplugged, a campaign co-founded by Thomas P. Farley, a.k.a. Mister Manners  and myself to promote unplugging from your technology at the dinner table this Thanksgiving. Thomas and I are both etiquette professionals that have grown weary of hearing our clients and friends complain that everywhere they go, people are looking down texting or posting on their social media site rather than engaging with the person in front of them. It was important for us to implement a campaign that would make a true difference. It is our sincere hope that unplugging at Thanksgiving dinner will be the first step towards a more respectful use of technology, at the dinner table and beyond. And, speaking of the dinner table, I am happy to offer a few dining etiquette tips that Classy Career Girl readers can use before, during and after the holiday meal is over. Did you know that second interviews are generally handled over a meal?  Here are 12 of the most commonly asked dinner etiquette questions. 1. How do I know if I should pay for the meal? The person that extends the invitation always pays the bill and leaves the tip. Here are a few different scenarios: If you are the host of a social gathering, make sure and take care of everything from the valet to the coat check. As the host of a business meal,    you are responsible for making sure that every part of the business meal goes smoothly, from start to finish. Dont ask Where would you like to go?. Offer suggestions and let your guest choose from the choices you have suggested. Take into consideration the location and accessibility of your guest(s). By all means, give your guest multiple options and let him or her make the final decision. If you are on a job interview, assume your interviewer will pay the bill and do not offer to leave a tip. Just say thank you and make sure to follow up with a written thank you note within 24 hours. 2. How do I know what I should order? If your host (or interviewer) doesnt guide your selection by giving you suggestions, order a meal that is middle of the road. Dont order a tiny appetizer for a meal because you will look nervous. Avoid ordering an extremely expensive meal because you will look as if you lack good judgment. Stay away from spinach, spaghetti, and lobster as they are too difficult to eat. 3. Which is my water glass? Your water glass and all liquids will always be on your right side of your place setting and your bread plate will to your left. A sure way to undermine your professional image is to eat from your interviewers bread plate or drink from his or her water glass. When in doubt, watch what he or she does and do the same. 4. What if I have to sneeze? Dont use your right hand to cover your mouth. Instead, cover your mouth with your left hand and sneeze or cough into your left shoulder. This leaves your right hand ready for a handshake when you say goodbye. 5. What do I do if I have something foreign in my mouth, such as a bone or gristle? Remove any foreign object from your mouth by covering your mouth with a napkin and removing the object with your index finger and thumb. Or, you can excuse yourself from the table and take care of removing the bone or gristle in the privacy of the restroom, away from the table and your host and fellow guests. 5. What does it mean when you say Salt and pepper are married? Salt and pepper are always passed together, even if someone only asks for salt. This small gesture indicates that you are familiar with the rules of the table and have had some prior form of dining etiquette training. 6. Should I leave a little bit of food on my plate? Its not necessary to leave a bit of food on your plate, nor is it appropriate to sop up the last of the gravy with your piece of bread. If you find it particularly hard to get the last remains of your food, leave it on your plate, wipe your mouth with your napkin and consider yourself finished. 7. Do I have to try something that doesnt look appealing? Yes, try a small bite of everything on your plate unless you have a food allergy. You will come across as juvenile if you eat only your steak and potatoes and turn your nose up at your peas and carrots. 8. Can I order a glass of wine? If you are on an interview, the answer is absolutely not. If you are out with a client, the answer is still no at a lunch meal. If you are with your friends, and it during a work day, the answer is still no. 9. Where do I put my napkin when I leave the table temporarily? When leaving the table during the meal, place your napkin on your chair and push the chair back under the table. Dont announce where you are going, especially if it is the restroom. Simply say, Please excuse me before exiting your chair. 10. Should I tell someone that they have something in their teeth? Use your best judgment. If you decide to tell your interviewer he or she has pepper in their teeth, preface it with I know you would want to know to soften the alert. He or she will most likely be a little uncomfortable, but very grateful if they have an important appointment to go to next. 11. What do I do if I spill my drink? If an accident at the table occurs, handle it and forget about it. Its not necessary to continue to talk about it and make it the main focus of the conversation. 12. What do I do if I drop my fork? A dropped utensil stays on the floor. If you drop your knife or fork on the restaurant floor, its not necessary to dive under the table to retrieve it. Ask the server for another utensil and continue with your conversation. Final Thoughts on Professional Dinner Etiquette Taking the time to present your best self at the dining table is an investment in your future business success. Why College Athletes Tend To Make Great Employees If you are responsible for recruiting for your business, you may have a standard approach to filtering through applicant. Some recruiters use scoring systems amongst other methods, meaning prospective employees can get overlooked. This can mean applicants who have strong sporting histories may not have as good of a shot as others because recruiters tend to linger on work experience and qualifications. Therefore, employers could be missing out on crucial insight into a person’s capabilities that could excel at your company. Maybe it is time to review your current scoring system and add a filter for people who were involved in sport at college. We’re not just talking about the elite athletes, as many of them will no doubt be staying in the area of sport for their career. We’re talking about athletes that showed elevated levels of commitment and many other great characteristics through a long period of playing sports. Team Player â€" Any sports player who plays a team sport, enjoys working as a team rather than an individual, otherwise they would have chosen an individual sporting event. A good business relies on a team of players that can collaborate and work well together. Sharing best practice and helping people out when difficult deadlines approach is some of the traits you can expect from a sports player. Goal focused â€" A successful team is one that sets difficult targets and still manages to meet them. To get the best out of any team in any industry, you must ensure goals are set so employees can become motivated. Whether this is done through increased sales, etc. a boost in reputation through great customer services or any other tangible measure for your business is a plus. Sports players are brought up with a goal to focus on, and they will help your team to reach the next level due to their training and personality traits ingrained into them from their sporting days. Whether they proudly display their Princeton class rings or are a more reserved team player from a local college team, they both bring similar qualities to the table and are wise investments. Another key aspect of employing sports enthusiasts is that they tend to have good levels of health, mean they may be less prone to sickness. The people who spend an hour in the gym before work tend to be the ones that can fire on all cylinders at 7 in the morning when the rest are trying to wake up.

Most people ask this question when they are considering working on TV shows, but how often do you hear someone ask this question in the media or in a place that requires writing as part of their job duties? If you're going to be working for yourself, or as part of a group, it's worth knowing how to write a resume for a TV writing internship.Writing a resume is just like writing any other job application. Poll Of The Week #1 How to answer, what is your biggest weakness 0 Flares 0 Flares Wonderful, the results are in!   Thanks to those for voting on  our very first Poll of the Week!   COTJ fans were given three incredibly exciting topics and needed to pick which one they most wanted to learn about.    In the end, our results went like this: First Place:    64%   How to answer the question,  What is your biggest weakness? Tie for Second Place: 18%   Resume Tips and Using Twitter as a job search tool. Thanks, again for voting.   The other two topics will be covered at another point in time, or thrown back into a Poll of the Week in the future.   OK, moving along to what youre waiting for, this weeks answer! First, I must say that this question is absolutely awful.    Appears like Im not alone in this belief, because recruiters/interviewers are finally taking this question out.   In my opinion, using this old school interview question is quite lazy.  The purpose of this question is to see if any of the skills or behaviors that are critical to the position are on the candidates weak list.   In my opinion, other interview techniques are much better at determining this, specifically Behavioral Interviewing is the best at doing this.   To read up on Behavioral Interviewing click here.  Along with being useful, this is also a question that many  candidates expect and practice for, and now job seekers have a new weaponme!   Here is our Do and Dont list  for answering a question regarding your biggest weakness. The Dont List Do not answer with one of those popular canned  responses youve heard before like, I work too hard, or Sometimes, I care too much about my projects.   Experienced interviewers (hopefully arent asking the question) have heard it all, and your answer will do nothing to make you stand out. Do not say, I dont have any weaknesses.   No ones perfect, we all have weaknesses.   Successful people pick careers where their weaknesses wont come into play. Do not lie and make up a fake weakness.  You may say something that triggers another question on that weakness, and then your caught in a run down.   I only suggest lying to those incredibly experienced liars, con artists, or the man Leonardo DiCaprio played in Catch Me If You Can.  Do you concur? The Do List Do answer this question honestly.  Before your interview spend time thinking about areas that you need to work on.  Possibly you have an area that you can work on easily, that will be perfect to bring up in the interview.  If one of your weak areas is public speaking, start taking public speaking classes, or even start small and give presentations to friends.  You can also sign up for a project or committee at work that gives you the opportunity to talk to small groups.  Then not only have you worked on your weak area, you can also bring this up on an interview when asked about it. Do review the job description before your interview.  This gives you a chance to see which skill sets are needed.  If more than a few of your weak areas show up, then Im not too sure why youve applied in the first place.  This also gives you a chance to think of your weak areas that do not show up on the job description.  Talk about one of those weaknesses, and again show how you are looking to improve on it.  The recruiter or interviewer will take note of it, but wont cross you off the list since your weakness is not a critical skill set for the position. We can only hope that as another decade passes, questions like these will be replaced with better interviewing techniques.  For now, use these tips above and your weakness will pass with flying colors.  Do you concur?  I love that movie.

Leadership darwinism - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog In the case where a board cant figure out to depose self-obsessed, autocratic and power-hungry managers, well probably se in the future that these leaders will in principle be deposed by their own employees, who will leave for better workplaces with better leaders and leadership values, that create a better space for the employees personal goals and life visions to unfold. This will leave the managers who use hierarchical leadership, control systems and autocratic leadership values without significant access to getting employees. Ie. a leadership with no followers, which is both pathetic and useless. Alfred Josefsen, CEO of Irma Right on, Alfred you tellem :o) There will be two kinds of darwinism operating against bad managers: 1) Employee selection: Employees will leave bad managers behind and gravitate towards better leaders. 2) Marketplace selection: Companies with autocratic old-school management are less efficient, and will loose market share to better-run organizations. In the end theyll die out altogether. If I had stock in a company, and wanted to make money out of those stocks, Id ask the board of directors two questions: 1) What are you doing to make the people in the organization happy? 2) How are you training leaders to make themselves and others happy?
